Forcing formula fields to recalculate

I globally edited a numeric field which feeds the calculation in a formula field, but the formula hasn't recalculated with the new data. If I manually edit one of the new values, it's fine. But that defeats the object of the global edit!
Any advice?

Given that global edit did not update the field when perhaps it should have done heres the work around.

Assuming you have permission open Setup User Defined Fields select the Formula field, click Properties as if you were going to modify the field then click ok. This will force a recalculation of all values for this field on the database.
