When I do an import where or how do I tell maximizer 9 to either : merge duplicates with seleted enty or add the new entry or reject the new duplicate?
When I initially installed max 9 I tried MTI as I wanted to manage duplicates and two sets of addresses per entry. I had many problems with MTI, asked Maximizer for tech. details ( no help) and was told by another Max. consultant that MTI does not work.
If it does work, any suggestions where I find a technical user manual so I can set it up for Max. 9? I find only a passing reference in the Max. user manual.
MTI does have its quirks. As for documentation, I know that it is included with the Customization Suite, but I don't know if it can be obtained separately. Maximizer Software or your Business Partner should be able to find out.
If MTI seems like a dead end, you may have better luck converting the data to XML and then importing it. There was some discussion of that here.
I spoke with Maximizer customer support this morning. They tell me that MTI will not work unless I buy the Customization Suite for $1,000 and then apply the MTI rules.
I then asked about XML. same comment.
So my attempts to synchronize and manage add/change beyond the strict vanilla field structure Maximizer provides gets a bit expensive. Which is unfortunate because the structure to do this appears to be already built in.
At least with XML you can export some of your existing address book entries to see what the structure should look like. (See post referenced above for a simple example.) Then, when you import via
If you have a specific need for Importing data in Maximizer with duplicate handling CABC Ltd make a product called Max Feed which does precisely that. The rundown on this tool can be found here: CABC Max Feed
Of course versions 9 and 10 both have settings under the preferences to help control duplicates when importing an MTI file. I use the email and phone number and not the name field as there are too many people with similar names but few with the same email and phone numbers. The Maximizer rep gave me an even better way to handle this: Create a new address book just for the import of the MTI files from your web query page. Import the queries into this and then do a direct transfer to the main address book after you do a quick duplicate check using MaxFinder. This will eliminate your duplicate troubles but take another step but I guess it depends upon how many mti files you have to process each day.
