Installing Mcafee Protection Pilot over Max 8

Our software people are trying to install Mcafee however it wont install its MSDE because Max is running on the office 2003 server. Anyone else had this and know how to get over the problem? dont really want to stop max as it may not start again after we install Mcafee

for info they fixed this in the end and (for the 1st time!) it wasnt a Max problem, it was an exchange problem so all is now well.......
