all macros seem to have abolute address. can one write a macro with a relative address so that i can scroll thru an address list and make changes.

I'm not sure what you mean. You can record a macro that edits an Address Book entry and then moves to the next one. If you check the "Continuous" box when creating the macro, you will be prompted for the number of times to loop through it when it is run.
If this is in reference to your "Global Edit" question in your other post, the following Max7 macro might be helpful. It adds "1-" to the beginning of the Phone1 field.
(Remember to check "Continuous" when you start recording.)
