I've been going through the upgrade from hell this past week trying to go from ver. 5.0 to 7.0 on a novel network.

I have several problems with the user rights not working and the column setup features not working within the network. I've called Tech. support 3 times and they haven't been able to fix yet.

Then today, the MAJOR problem. Our accounting software, Peachtree, stopped working and I'm told, by the Peachtree people that they both use the Btreive/Pevasive database engine and Peachtree will not work with the new version of Pervasive so I need to decide wether I want Peachtree or Max. - can't have both on the same system. The Peachtree people say the new Pervasive company won't work with them on making Pervasive work with Peachtree. IF, true then I need to back out of Max. ASAP.

Hi, Bruce.

Are you running the most recent version of Peachtree? I ask because at a recent Maximizer training session I was told that:

- Maximizer and older versions of Peachtree could not co-exist because Peachtree used Btrieve in a non-standard way, and that

- it is only quite recently that Pervasive has been able to persuade Peachtree to fix their software and make it do The Right Thing.

I can't vouch for that myself - just something I heard.
Gord,

Thanks for the reply. I do have the lastest Peachtree 2002. Peachtree support is the one who told me they can't run together. I left a message with Max. support to see what they say.

Hi Bruce,

Things may not be quite as bad as they seem,

We have a reasonable knowledge of making things that don't work together work together at CABC.

The answer maybe that only one app will run at a time, but that maybe better than nothing.

Do you know which version of Btrieve or Pervasive that Peachtree uses?

What exactly are you seeing as a symptom of the problems?

Are you running Pvsw C/s for both apps? Which service release? I would recommend 2A as a minimum.

Lets see what we can find out about this,

Regards
