Whoa!! You do NOT need to configure your SMTP server as an open relay for Email campaigns to work. What you _do_ need is access to an SMTP server that will allow you to send mail. That can either be determined by:

- the IP address of the sending machine ([E]CRM server), or

- the Email address of the sender (or sometimes the recipient).

If you _do_ enable relaying, don't be surprised if your mail server quickly gets "blackholed" by other mail servers that rely on open relay lists such as ORDB, MAPS RSS, etc.. There's no point in sending out your Emails if many of your intended recipients will never receive them....

Your campaign manager will not work properly unless you negotiate with your ISP to set up the security to enable Relay Request from you (yes i know about the security implications).

Because the emails sent from you are not coming from you they are being sent on behalf of you.

Check you Campaign Manager log files for the cause of your problems, it generates lots of them. As i have discovered, especially if your SMTP server doesn't relay your emails.
