Have Just upgraded from Max9.5 to Max10 Group. Several of the users' password under Max9.5 was "password". After converting database they now cannot login & they get an invalid ID or password message. I go into the Administrator & into the Users section & try to give them new passwords. I believe you cannot use "password", "Administrator", "Admin" or their userid as passwords under Max 10 so I give them new passwords. When I try to apply the new password I get the following error message:

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]{SQL Server] Cannot alter the login 'username' because it does not exist or you do not have permission.

Why is this? I am logged into the Administrator as Administrator & the users are in the user list. TIA

Tony,

Under Maximizer 9, 9.5 & 10 'password' is not longer allowed as a users password as it is regarded as too insecure.

All users who used to have 'password' as their Maximizer Password should find that their password has been changed to 'maximizer'.

As to the other part of your question, this would seem to indicate that the users do not exist on the SQL Server. Have you recently moved to a new SQL Server?
Thanks for te reply

They were using "password" as passwords under 9.5 Pervasive without any issues. Now using Group Edition so using SQL Express. Tried "maximizer" as the password but still get the "invalid user ID or password" message.

The users are listed in the Administrator & I even opened the Users table in the SQL Server Manager & they are listed there aswell. Thanks

Tony
