I'm assistng a friend with a trial of Mac 11 Entrepreneur and we need to arrange for me to ba abkle to access his system over the web from a long distance away.

He wants to use a VPN with a copy of MAX installed on my local mahine using the internet to connect to the database held in his offices, where others will access it via the LAN. Based on a prior experience with this configuration I'm afraid it will be too slow to be practical. Terminal Services isn't a viable option for him.

Any idea if it will be fast enough or what we should experience? I'm in Vancouver, Canada and he's in Toronto, Canada so we're across the continent from one another. Having said that, we both have fast internet connections. Any cinfiguration tips would be appreciated.

TIA for any assistance - R.

Hi,
Not sure if your issue is still ongoing. There is a lot of detail in your post. If I got it straight, this is a short term trial only, for testing purposes. You have Max 11 Entrepreneur installed on your Mac in Vancouver. Your friend is in Toronto and they want to see Max 11 working. Your Max 11 will access data on a server in TO.

If it's remote access, could you and your friend use a remote control service like TeamViewer? There are versions for Mac and PC. For non-commercial, non-company use, it's free.

You can run Max 11 on your Mac while your friend watches on his/her monitor. Your friend can also take control of your Mac and operate the software him/herself.

Given the speed of internet connection these days and the fact that Max 11 is designed to serve up data in real time to mobile devices, I can't imagine for a trial that speed would be an issue.
