Running Max 7 and looking at either upgrading to new versions of Max or going with industry-specific software. One key is whether we could stay with Max or would have to upgrade to Max Enterprise. A large part of that decision is technical, as we do not need much of the added Sales & Marketing functionality Max Enterprise brings to the table. If anyone can shed light on the questions below it would be appreciated :

1) How hard is the 10 user limit on Max using Pervasive? Is it a "practical" limit based on workloads, or is it a hard limit where you can't getmore than 10 licenses?

2) You used to be able to set up Max on a Pervasive client-server configuration, but the datasheet shows only Pervasive Workgroup available for Max - you need to go to Max Enterprise for Pervasive client-server. Is this actually the case?

3) The datasheet shows that only Max Enterprise works with Exchange Server. Is this really the case?

4) Any other technical differences not readily apparent from the marketing material? As background, we are running 8 users of Max 7 Pervasive Workgroup in a Terminal Services configuration.

TIA - R.

Rooster,

The 10 user license limit is imposed by Maximizer software, they simply won't sell you more than a 10 user license for the workgroup edition.

The Client Server edition of pervasive is indeed only available for the Enterprise product as is the Max Exchange system.

I would suggest that you contact a local business partner in the area and discuss your requirements with them, they should be able to provide you with some exact information and costs.
