I have Max. Ent 5 and 2000. I wanted to go to exchange and sales convinced me to purchase 2000. I'm having some problems getting 2000 to work with 5 since 2000 since I can't seem to get my system to load Btrieve 6.15 - it wants to use Per.2000.

I installed an old version of Max to get 2000 to use B. 6.15, but now I get 8020 errors.

The non-2000 systems are using Btrieve 6.15N.

After I get these machines running, how difficult is it going to be to get the Per.2000 installed so that I can use Max Exchange? I'm reluctant to go to Per.2000 since it seems very slow to load the address books.

We're on a peer-to-peer network of Win 98 machines - 300 mhz or better. plenty of ram and hd space. The address books are kept on 98 machine that is used only as a file server.

Suggestions?

Code 8020 means that the Pervasive engine cannot find one of its components. That's usually caused by the PATH not being updated correctly (to include c:\pvsw\bin), but in your case it might be that Maximizer still thinks it's using P.SQL instead of Btrieve.

You have the right idea. Uninstall Maximizer and Pervasive, clean out the leftover files (e.g. c:\pvsw) and registry settings, then install Maximizer_5.0 to set up Btrieve 6.15. Then install Maximizer_2000 and say "No" when it asks if you want to upgrade to P.SQL_2000.

You might not have to. MaxExchange might continue to work with Btrieve if it is already there (because Maximizer was installed as above). However, I haven't run across that particular scenario so I can't say for sure.
