I am a bit new to this "Maximizer" but i trying to setup a new laptop to be used on the road using maximizer 7 enterprise.

I have outlook XP and windows2k on the max server and windows XP on the laptop.
Please note i have a laptop already setup but we want to get rid of that and setup this new one.

I have copied over most things and exchanged the first data packets but then the server tried to sent 500MB data packet via email.
Well this is impossible!!!
What is the easiest way out of this???

Also server and the one workstation both have this error come up saying "record is currently in use waiting for access to record" what could be the problem??

thanks allot!!

Thanks for the quick response, yes i have seen this option.

I have worked out i have to set the laptop up as a remote server and then install maxexchange remote! Though this still poses the problem.

I have found maxechange is a tricky beast to configure.

Anyway could i just burn a copy of the address book to a cdrom and then copy it to the laptop?

Then do an update?

Thanks

No, you only need MaxExchange Remote on the laptop.

Yes, it can be a bit of a chore to set up. You might want to get some help from a Maximizer Business Partner in your area.

No, that won't work. However, you can save the refresh packet (packet #1) to disk, burn it to a CD, then import it into MaxExchange on the notebook and process it that way.

No. From what you've told us, a MaxExchange Remote Server is not required. MaxExchange Remote on the laptop can communicate directly with the MaxExchange Server.

>maxexchange remote?

As far as MaxExchange itself is concerned, yes. If you are using Email transport then the laptop will also need to have a supported Email client (e.g. Outlook).

And Maximizer itself needs to be on the laptop too, of course.

ok then i have done it right then,

i am disapointed that the maximizer has all these great setup guides at it's website but not much info on maxexchange which is the hardest thing to setup.

I have the server (office) and the remote server (laptop) sending packets back and forth ok.

Seems ok but i believe i have to perform a global update because i have all the addresses on the laptop now but not all the apointments and letters etc.....

This seems by far the biggest chunk of info.

for example the old laptop the database file is 900Mb but the new laptop is only 30Mb?

Also another question, i tried first to copy the the database from the old laptop to the new laptop but no joy...everything copies but this file called "MXZL" so i gave up.
This file makes up the bulk of the database size 970Mb, total database size is 990Mb.
Also when i do a defrag the defrag stops because it can't move the file "MXZL"!!!

Check out the "save packet to disk" option.

Hello Gord,

I too am new to Maximizer...I tried getting service from our local Maximzer reseller, but he is hard to get a hold of. So, I'm resorting to forums to get answer. This gentleman's problems seems to look like the problem we are encountering. I manage to perform the "save packet to disk", and it looks like data's were transfered over to the remote PC i'm currently setting up. However, when I open up the local database, it comes out blank. Any idea?

Thanks
