Greetings,

Using Max8 Ent Pervasive SR4A on WinXP pro workstation.

I have a fixed date email campaign to followup on trial downloads of my software. All of the trial downloaders for the day get added to a new campaign on that day that sends a followup email 14 days and 28 days later.

I've found through frustrating trial and error that if I close Max with this address book open, all of these active email campaigns get marked as completed, when they are still active. This is of course a big pain in the rear as I then have to dig out all these "completed" campaigns and mark them as active again. If I close the address book first, then close max, they stay active.

Of course, sooner or later Max will get closed before the address book is closed (maybe from a Windows update reboot prompt or whatever), causing these campaigns to get mistakenly marked as being done. So much for an automated campaign being truly automated...

Does anyone have any suggestion as to how I can make sure that these active campaigns do not get marked as completed before they are actually completed?

David Thacker

If you are using a Fixed Date campaign then this will automatically complete itself once any emails are sent.

Sounds like you need to select your campaign as on-going rather than fixed, so that you can add the receipiants on a daily basis.

We do a simliar thing here with new support contracts, just add them to the campaign, they receive the email(s) and campaign remains active until it is manually suspended.

Thank you for the reply. However, the emails have not been sent, and that is the problem. They will not be sent until 14 days in the future, but if the campaign gets marked as completed because I did not close the address book before closing Maximizer, they will never get sent!

Correct me if I am wrong, but my interpretation of the ongoing campaign documentation and short testing made me think that it was not going to work as I wanted. For example, I created an ongoing campaign and set an email 14 days from the start. In the Template | Review of the campaign, it shows the email on a fixed date, eg. June 1. When I added new contacts to the campaign the next day, there was still just a single mailing date of June 1 shown, instead of June 1 for the original campaign recipients, then June 2 for the recipients added the next day. Because of this, I cancelled that ongoing campaign, and now create a new fixed date campaign every day.

Was I wrong to give up on the ongoing campaign? Would it really send the emails to the first group on June 1, then emails to the contacts added the next day on June 2, contrary to what the review screen indicated?

Thanks for your resposne.
