Friend has a max9 enterprise install on her desktop thats been running a month or so now ok..

She is running the same license on her laptop for when she's on the road.. she did purchase a MaxExchange license at the same time she did the main license from Maximzer directly.

Running on a simple home LAN, XP Pro on both machines, no domains etc.

I spent the last 6 hours trying to make Network Transport work.. In Windows Explorer I can drop n drop files from the Desktop to the \\laptop\MaxExchange directory.. but when, in Server Manager, I force a Process Packets I get an error in the Server log and it doesnt copy those packets over to the Laptop Inbox

04.03.2006 15:09:07:15 - Network connection failed: \\laptop-n8w0w6\MaxExchange\.

04.03.2006 15:09:07:15 - Cannot access site \\laptop-n8w0w6\MaxExchange\.

Ive looked everywhere in Site Manager and Server Manager for somewhere to enter a username/password for the laptop, thinking that might be the problem.. the only thing I found was in the User setup of Maximizer itself where I can enter a Windows Authentication username.. but it tells me to use domain\user format, and Im not on a domain..

16 years in computers and I dont think Ive ever been so frustrated as when I try and do anything with this Software..

Oh.. and the MaxRemote client on the laptop.. does it get -all- of its config information from the desktop in its initial Synch? or am I missing something where I can setup its Transport method etc on the Laptop?

thanks,

Brett

I'm transfering you this because you are facing the same problem I had and this post helped
(the 'username/password' to enter is not the one of the laptop but of the server itself). here is the post :

Is MaxExchange on the Server running as a service? In this case, check the permissions of the service process. It is possible that the service cannot access the remote site.

What happens if you initiate the synchronization from the client? Any error messages here?
