We have Maximizer Enterprise/Pro v.10 set up like this;
1 dedicated server w MaxExchange Server
4 "remote" laptop clients with MaxExchange Remote

The Maximizer clients, laptops, are run within our company network as well as outside the network. We have used FTP sync transport method as advised by our current partner. This works fine when we are in the office attached to the same router network. However, we have never been able to configure FTP transport to work through one (or two) hardware firewalls, and we foresee a problem because one firewall is outside our control. This is a nuisance for us!

We now consider using a VPN network (tested and works fine through the firewalls) to be useed outside our office network. But the FTP sync method does not work via VPN. The static internal server IP-address (192. ...) seems not to be recognized via the VPN network. Other applications (MS Access) that utilizes the server works as expected inside and outside the office network.

So we now consider using the "Network Direct" synchronize method instead. I guess we can configure MaxExchange FTP-method to be synchronized always via VPN, whether or not inside our office network. But...

Is there any drawback with "Network Direct" method compared to FTP?
