There are several things you must know about MaxExchange such that you limit the number of issues you run into with the program.
1. MaxExchange DOES NOT run on Windows NT Server nor does it run on Novell Netware Server.
2. Email transport: The email program you use must be the same type AND the same VERSION. DO NOT MIX EMAIL PROGRAMS in MaxExchange. If you use MS Outlook Express 4.72.3.101, it must be installed on BOTH the Super Peer and Workstation (Server and Remote)
3. NETWORK DIRECT: Get the network, including RAS connections, working BEFORE installing and configuring MaxExchange.
4. FTP: The Super Peer computer MUST have a static IP address assigned to it, Ports 20,21,1024-5000 must be open (no programs using these ports).
As with any piece of software, there is a right way and a wrong way to use it. If you use it the right way, your tech support calls will be a benefit to both you and tech support. Use it the wrong way and tech support will be unable to give you any kind of meaningful solution.
