Has anyone had any experience with custom forms in production... are they stable... do they synchronize well???

Well, the actual forms themselves don't synchronize - you'd have to distribute them to remote users.

As for stability - from my limited experience as a Max admin in this arena - the Form designer looks like it runs on VBScript. A more powerful avenue would be to look into the toolkit (or whatever they call it now) where it's described how do develop forms in full VB.
