I have an XP machine with a single user install of Maximizer 7, which I have tried to install. It seems to install correctly, but when I try to start it, I get the error.

"DataManager returned an error code of 3012"
"Local Engine is not accessible to the MicroKernal Router"

I called support and they said that my McAfee virus protection and firewall was the problem, and that I should uninstall that and the Maximizer should work.

How can Maximizer not work with one of the top anti-virus/firewall packages out there? This makes no sense, I have never had any other problem with McAfee and other programs.

He said that I could also uninstall Maximizer by following the knowledge base. Mad What software built today does not have an uninstall as part of the package.

I had been a Maximzer user in the past, but this is pushing me away.

Hi i administer various networks and i find virus programs like Norton AV(especially norton internet security-total pain in the arse) and Mcaffee have many conflicts with other resident software. particuarly at bootup.
Well let me rephrase that, not good in bed together.
I have solved many a problem just by changing AV software.
The solutions i have used is "AVG" (www.grisoft.com) and Sygate firewall products. As far as a firewall is concerned these days routers/firewalls are getting better and cheaper.
Besides XP can be a pain.

hope this helps
The 3012 error usually occurs because the Pervasive engine has not started. To start the engine from the Run coomand browse to "C:\PVSW\BIN\W3DBSMGR.EXE - srde" you will need to add the srde switch. You should see icon in the system tray you will now be able to start Maximizer.

Usually the engine is placed in the Start up folder so that this is automatic.
