I receive an error message when trying to install a workstation version of Maximizer on our W95/98 stations. The installation is just about to start copying files when I get a message similar to the following:
Can't find/open maxuser.dll
I click ok and the installation ends.
I have no trouble installing on WNT stations.

Hi Peter,

These sorts of problems are very frequently related to Anti Virus software running on the machine at install time, this will normally cause all of the files to be scanned as they are unpacked from the Cabinet files.

This tends to upset install shield as the system unpacks rather slower than you may expect and the software errors think something is missing, this because it hasn't yet unpacked the file.
