We use maximizer only because it is a far superior product, but might purchase a license of Act just to transfer data into Dell Axim PDAs. Act claims they support these devices, and it looks like Maximizer doesn't. (Windows Mobile 5.0).

We have not yet purchased Act, and I think you only get support from them if you are a licensed user.

I presume then the answer to my original question is no?

I was thinking of a peer-support forum for ACT!, like this one is for Maximizer.

Not necessarily. I merely made the suggestion because actual ACT! users would be more conversant with the import capabilities of that product. There's probably a way to do it, but I don't know much about ACT! so I can't say for sure.

We've had no problems syncing our data with a Palm - and that's going back a few versions and a few Palms as new ones came out.

Everything from the address book records, tasks, notes, appointments and emails. Maximizer Link has co-existed along side of other conduits we use quite happily.

I read your posts and even replied to one or two. Maximizer has extensive documentation on the subject and I can only encourage you to take your time and go through the set-up step by step.

If your heart is set on using a specific PDA that isn't supported by Maximizer than I guess this forum and Maximizer ain't going to be much help.

I just want other readers of this forum to know that Maximizer Link works as advertised. Is it as simple to set-up as other conduits? - I'd have to say "No" but a little reading and so on and your on your way. One also pays for most other conduits as an add-on to their existing software where Maximizer's is free.

Just my 2 cents.

Damien, I'm not meaning to censor your post, but if you dislike Max so much and don't use it, why are you here?

In light of your negative comment and statement you don't use the product, if you could clarify your motivation and involvement with Max I personally would appreciate it. This is a Maximizer user forum, where we help one another use Max. People do ask the users here what they think of the product, which makese sense, and there are topics devoted to these questions with honest feedback which is not always pro-Max. Your comment - perhaps with some details that could be addressed - may have been more appropriate there, although if you're not using Max I question that. To hijack a "How do I do this?" thread with "Don't use Max" is a little odd, particularly when the comment is from someone who says they don't use the product. Personally I would not drop into an Act user forum and post a "Don't use Act" comment anywhere.

Again, this is not an attempt to censor you or disrespect you. However, this is a public forum with a specific reason for existence - your comment seems a little out of place, so I think some background is in order.

Well, if it's his only post, and instead of "welcome" he gets "odd" and "negative" and "hijack"... "why are you here"...

We can guess why he stopped posting.

I'm not saying there aren't spoilers who float around just to throw negativity around, but I didn't find his post that out of place, nor that negative.

Each bad experience, taking him as just "everyman" for now, whether he comes back or not, each bad experience is a chance to turn those lemons into something productive. Not everyone is perfect at expressing their frustration within the dotted lines. But everyone does have a customer story that is their own. These are what businesses learn from, act upon, and welcome whether good or bad.

I just find that it isn't that productive to go after the method, and not the message. We may have lost the lesson.

Again, I'm not saying Demian is a soothsayer or oracle... I'm just giving the benefit of doubt until proven otherwise.
Ummm, Damien had one post slamming Max and then nothing. If you read my response to his post, you'll find I was quite clear that I had reservations about his motivations, but I was equally clear in inviting him to provide exactly the info you said we should get. If he uses my post as an excuse not to participate any more, I seriously question the real value we would have received from further communication. I am not being "emotional" about this - my experience is that anyone who is solid enough to add value will typically be able to respond when questioned about something.

I should note that I had two motives in questioning his post. One was definitely to find out the background on his comments, whether positive or negative to Max (you'll notice I made no request to turn this forum into an on-line Barney song). The other was to have it in writing what the potential background to his post was, so some newbie doesn't just read that Max is horrible and stay away from the product. Leaving a post like his out there without response promotes an unbalanced viewpoint.

And I am now off my soapbax - on to more important stuff, like Maximizer Q&A!
