Hi I am new to Maximizer and have just started using Max8 and it is a God sent that there is at least one forum, Maxtalk that can offer knowledge for Maximizer and I think this has been bourn from customer frustration with the lack of response from Maximizer to customer questions.
I have taken the time over the last week to go back over every post that Maxtalk has and it has filled in some of the blanks.
So thanks, Maxtalk people up front for your assistance so far.
Yes and I bet Max staff do come to the forum to review questions with out offering solutions.
Now I know with every program, shall we say their will be unique preferences for different contact mangers, so I accept there is always going to be some frustration with not having all the answers at your fingertips and will require some further investigation on knowledge bases.
So that’s why I opted for ordering the CD version with user manual, and the training CD to cover all the bases.
Now when it comes to the training CD is it absolutely CRAP! And should only be used as a coffee cup place mat. I had after settling in with the program intended to pass this on to our staff for training use, NO way better of with a whiteboard and marker pen.
All you get for your money on the CD is the mouse moving over the page showing you how to achieve a function. I find this amazing for such an organization, not be able to supply a trainings CD, which actually has a verbal explanation of the process as it proceeds through the lesson.
The people at Maximizer must still be living in the Stone age, it’s just beyond me how Maximizer could put its name on such a CD.
Yet it appears that the web site can offer a good spoof presentation with verbal explanation examples to get you in, so why can they not emulate this to a working training CD. Or is the hole enfaces on having to get a Max partner out so you have more debt than a third world country to get the training.
From the out set there appears to be several frustrating integrations for this program, and the most glaring, is the transferring of MS outlook contacts to Max, what the hell are these people at Max thinking of, even my AUS $15.00 palm data base program can transfer Outlook contacts seamlessly without having to go through such a ridicules exporting setup. This is version 8 of Max not 1.1 so they have had 8 times to fix this problem, I say get off your bums and sort it out Maximizer and move out of the dark ages.
Now for the clincher, as you get 30 days tech support on the 3 call to the Australian supplier in the conversation with the tech aid, it slips that there is to be new Max 9 not to be confused with the enterprise 9 already being offered and coming out in 2006.
Now I had to ask the question to the tech aid, if they know of a new version that’s going to be out soon, am I eligible to receive a free up grade to 9 considering the short change over time.
The simple answer to the was NO, with a long pause and a further comment that’s the way it goes, interesting when you consider I was going to present this product as a recommendation to be use with about 60 licenses needed.
Ok now for the fun stuff, as an Australian user of this program, no consideration has been taken to offer the option on the name view, who the hell ever wrights there surname first! Then their given names second, its a contact manager 99% of the time directed to sales, this is 1960 programming, can any one name a contacts manger now that can not offer this option for us Aussies.
My fix is, when using the crappie CSV transfer is to place the last name outlook field agent’s first name in Max field and fist name out look field agents the last name fields, but you must also go in to File on the tool bars then preferences- master and change the formatting option to
{Last_Name?} {First_Name?}
{Position?}
{Company?}
{Address_Line_1?}
{Address_Line_2?}
{City?} {State_Province?} {Zip?}
so you mail print is no Smith John , but will read John Smith, like nay sane person would wright in information as a contact.
Now I have one question only one for tonight, how do I get back the column setup tool onto the lower tool bars, I sort of clicked it a few times and its now gone and can not find any way to get them back on the address book bar and contacts bar. It’s bloody got me stumped!
