Maximizer Goldmine XML Import Issues

Hello I am importing a rather large db from Goldmine and I thought I would be very clever and export everything in XML. My feelings of cleverness evaporated once I tried to do an advanced import to Max 8. Any advice or resources on how to get this to work will be greatly appreciated.
