hi have maximizer enterprise 7 on a peer to peer network and i have install "maxlink" on one workstation to hotsync with a tungstan c Palm.
So far all is well no problamo.

the only fuss my team has is when you view the "addresses" on the palm from maximizer you can see the company, phone numbers, etc but there is nothing under first name or last name but in maximizer you can search these fields.
i have read the setup manual and it seems i have everthing set right and indeed apart from that all the addresses and apointment all work in sync.

regards Paul

Wow i thought for i while i was the only person using maxlink...

Well i am not sure what to do?
The program seems to work ok but it's not transfering from the pc to the palm the first ands last names.

However yours does?
So i take it you have on your palm from maximizer "first names and last name", addresses, company name?

Well i'm not sure what to do from here?
The only issue I have is sometimes Address Book entries get duplicated ... very occasionally and no seeming pattern so I haven't tried to trouble shoot it. Remember, I am using Max, not Enterprise.

In terms of your comment that you felt you were the only one, that is a problem with this forum (please note all who read this).

Lots of people view posts but do not reply. Sometimes simply knowing it works for others gives you something to start with, so PLEASE REPLY when you see a post you know ANYTHING about.

This forum is only valuable when people post. Keep on viewing and not replying and soon you will have NOTHING to view.

I don't think it's the model, but rather the combination of the Palm OS, Hotsync version and Palm Desktop version that matter. Check out http://www.maximizer.com/support/products.html#pda for the supported versions. As an FYI, I'm using a ZIRE 71 and had some problems but it's now working well.

To fix my issues I had to uninstall Maxlink (using both Control Panel and manual intervention - check with Max tech support for the uninstall document), then reboot, then uninstall Palm desktop & hotsync (again, using both Control Panel & manual intervention as per Palm tech support document). Reboot again, then install Palm/Hotsync and test to ensure syncing worked. It did, so I hard reset my Palm (erasing all the data), then re-installed Palm Link. My first Max sync I only synced the Address Book, with Max overwriting the Palm. Then switched that to "Syncronize" and synced again. When I was satisfied that workd, I added "Hot List" but still only in "Max over-write Palm" mode - etc., one app at a time.

Everything looked fine, but hot syncing broke a couple of days later. After a bit of attempted trouble-shooting it started to work again (no idea why from what I could see) and has been fine ever since.

Palm has changed the conduits on their new versions of the Palm Desktop software. These new devices ship with Palm Desktop 4.1.2 and, according to Palm, you cannot run an older version of the software with the new devices. The Zire 71 will work because of the older version of the desktop, but the Zire 21 will not work because it has the new version.
I have similar duplication problems when hotsynching. I'm using Maximizer "personal" 8 but had the same problem with Max7. Seems when the address book data (addresses, hotlist tasks, appointments) are downloaded to the PDA, the data are store in the Palm fields which are supposed to (but don't) correspond to the Maximizer fields on the PC. On the next synch, I get duplicate entries back in Maximizer as "new entries". The duplicates come from the PDA because the appointment and hotlist priorities is a numeric "1" whereas I use letters in Maximizer (priority A, B, C, etc).

With email (using Eudora EIS for Palm), the synch works fine, no duplicates. So I think it's something with the Maximizer-Palm conduits.

So I have hotsync setup so the PC overwrites the PDA everytime. No changes or new information I input into the PDA goes to Max on the PC. I have to manually make those changes again on the PC. So the PDA serves much like a printed reference list. It would be nice if I could get them to sync though. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Setup: Maximizer (personal) 7 and now 8, Palm IIIxe with OS 3.5, MaxLink 7 and now 8. Hotsynching through ethernet cradle to a laptop.
