Hi,

We have max 6.0 .. old I know, however I installed maxlink, all seems to be fine, however it will NOT synch all addresses?

I get no errors, check the logs and everything seems ok, but seem to be at a loss.

Do any of you have any insight/ expertise with maxlink? Everything seems great, but it flies through the synch, so I know it couldnt have time to update the 10000 addresses. There are lots in the palm, but I just cant seem to figure out why its not doing them ALL.

Even the max db name is present on the palm.

Any tips / tricks at all would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Well, just too keep you updated as I work away here, I went in and selected some entries I KNOW were not getting added by choosing the entire max db .. I see them in maxlink fine, went through and did a synch with the palm and they STILL were not added??

This is really weird. Why would 101 contacts be getting skipped, even if explicitly selected?

Is it a setting or something im doing wrong?

Thanks so much.
Does anyone have any tips / tricks / info at all on this?

Searching for max help on the net (other than this site) is almost impossible.

Im still at a loss as to why I would see contacts in the synch list, it synchs fine, however not all entries are synched.

Its always the same ones that are not synched as well.

Thanks in advance.
Don't have too much to offer, but I hate to see someone kind of crying out for help alone in the darkness ... <g>

Anyway, I can say it works for me, and I've been using it for a long time. The only problem I have is that it sometimes creates duplicate entries in Max (so I'll have 2 or 3 or 4 copies of the same Adress Book entry and need to remove the extra ones).

Anyway, have you checked how your MaxLink configuration options are set? For yur Contacts, did you select the Entire Address Book? Have you got the Sync Methods set to syncronize Max with the Palm or is it only set to go one way? (thinking that maybe the ones being left out were added on the wrong side of the sync). It's got to be something like that.

Hope this help - R.

Hi Rooster, thanks a lot for the reply and to be honest, I havent seemed to get ANYWHERE.

The options are set to always synch the entire address book.

However I have actually tried ALL options just to see if there was any difference at all. I even when through and picked 30 users that I knew were not being synched and put them explicitly in the synch list.

NO GO !!! ARGH!!!! No ryhme or reason that I can tell.

Well I have tried 3 different PCs now, setting up from scratch, and have tried 2 different palm pilots (kyocera flip phone palms) and both end up with the same results.

The entries that are not getting synched have been checked and ARE INDEED in the list to be synched.

I honestly dont understand it. I have tried synching in the cradle, and have even called in with the modem in the phone and done a synch modem to modem and end up with the exact same results.

Again this is max 6 but still there doesnt seem to be a reason for this.

Any other tips or tricks at all?

Anything is appreciated, as im about at the end of my rope now. Tried about everything unless there are actual settings in the Max db itself that could be blocking this .. thats about the only thing i havent looked into as I dont believe there could be .. could there be?

Don't know anything about settings in the Max DB, sorry. However, I seem to remember that in the setup of MaxLink it says you have to be careful where you set the options - they can be set in a couple of places but in one of the more intuitive locations it actually doesn't work. I can't remember the locations, but if you check the Max knowledge base the info should be there.

As an FYI, mine worked with Max 6 and Max 7. What about just deleting the ones that aren't syncing and manually re-creating them? Seems crude and carries the obvious risk the problem could recur, but you could monitor for that. Just a thought, but it's a route I've had to follow in other cases.

I wonder if you ever resolved your problems.

I am a Max 8 user and am considering acquiring a Kyocera 7135.

Your experience makes me wonder whether Max 8 will work with a Kyocera Palm phone.

The Max website does not indicate that it is supported hardware although the Palm OS 4.1 is compatible with Max 8 and Max Link 8. Your thoughts?

Do you think I would wise to avoid the Kyocera if Max comptability is important?

Thanks!

I hope you see my response, as it looks like your message is pretty old.

The PALM itself has a maximum # of addresses it can store. I don't remember the number, but it's above 9,999 and below 11,000.

It sounds to me like you've just simply maxed out the # of addresses that the PALM can hold. I researched this and found a similar thread elsewhere regarding another software. The author of the post ended up contacting Palm and THEIR people confirmed that the issue was the max # of contacts...

And yeah it's REALLY annoying that Palm has a Max # of contacts. Pathetic, actually...
AH HA!

I found the specifics:

There is a limit of 10376 number of records that can be synchronized to the Palm™ Desktop Address book application (for Windows), and a limit of 9866 records you can manually 'enter in' the Desktop. After 9866 you can no longer enter new records in the Palm Desktop, (but you can synchronize up to 10376!).
