We are running Maximizer 7.0 SR3 W/HotFix 1 and Maximizer Exchange 7.0 SR2.

My problem is that I can setup a MaxExchange remote user and sync via FTP while connected internally no problem, but if I try connecting externally I keep receiving an error message that said something like “Invalid address book ID connection failed”. The address book ID is correct and works when testing the FTP connection internally but on the very same machine will fail when I try connecting externally.

I am going through a Firewall when connecting externally and have opened the FTP port #; I even at one point opened the MaxExchange server to everything on the Firewall and still receive this error.

Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong?

the IP address you used in the maxexchange setup. can you PING it from an external source(will have to be an external IP to do this)? Are you using NAT (the IP address of your firewall) as the IP (this wont work).

What ports did you open? 21 is for authentication only you also need to open 10035 and up for every connection that may occur.

Best solution would be for a remote user to gain access to the internal network using a VPN or RAS modem pool then sync using the internal IP address. If that solution is not possible and you dont have an external IP address for your MaxExchange Server. Try Email transport method. it sucks but may be your only solution
