Hi,
It's the weekend and a good time to upgrade to CRM 10 Entrepreneur from Maximizer 9 (not the Enterprise version). All went well. I left Max 9 intact and went ahead and installed CRM 10. I upgraded the address book, opened the address book. Everything looked fine. I set up the address book, contacts, etc. windows the way I wanted. But after rebooting the computer and starting CRM 10, I get the error:

MaxApp.exe- Applicatoin Error. The instruction at "0x6d61435f" referenced memory at "0x6d61435f". The memory could not be read" Click on OK to terminate the program"

Sounds like a memory conflict. I tried several remedies. I removed CRM 10 and re-installed. No change. I un-installed the Pervasive database from version 9, no change. Then I re-installed the Pervasive database in case it was needed. No change. Then I restored the C: drive to a Norton Ghost image I made before the upgrade and went through the same steps to reinstall CRM 10. I went back to a Max 9 address book and upgraded that. Same symptoms, CRM 10 worked the first time after upgrading the address book, but I get the memory error anytime I've exited CRM 10 and try to run it again.

MaxFinder and MaxAlarm and Addministrator in v. 10 work fine. I can search for contacts and see my appointments. The functions in Administrator work on my address book. It's just the main CRM program that won't run. I've run Registry Mechanic to hopefully sort out any registry detritus. No change.

I've spent Friday night on this and half of Saturday with no solution in sight.

Please anyone, any hints?

System: Windows XP SP3, 3GB RAM, Core Duo T7100 processor.

thanks.

Update. Been at it for 3 days, no go. Same error message, "memory could not be read".

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced anything similar in installing Max CRM 10. The Administrator, MaxAlarm, and MaxFind work. Just the main program won't start.

Maximizer tech support were generous and I'm sure I went over the complimentary 30 minutes of support.

I tried.
- rolling back to SP2 from SP3 in Windows XP.
- re-installed SP3
- disabled the antivirus (ESET NOD32)
- removed the antivirus
- disabled the firewall (Comodo)
- swapped the 1GB and 2GB memory cards in their slots
- took out 1 stick of RAM, ran on 2 GB
- un-installed and re-installed CRM 10 about 6 times.
- searched the Internet for clues

I'm re-installing Max 9 until I get more time to try again. Tech suuport thinks it Windows XP (there are some other weird things going on) but I've run out of things to try and have lost several days of work. I'll report back if I get anywhere.

Some things I learned about CRM 10 Entrepreneur
- when you upgrade the address book, the data goes into the SQL database. Your original data remains untouched.
- I stored my data in Max9 on another drive that got backed up regularly. With SQL, the data resides where the SQL database gets installed, on the C: drive. Need to modify the backup routine if I ever get CRM 10 going.

Not sure if you've figured this one out or not...

We ended up copying the important profile files out to a root folder, then deleting the users profile. Once that was done, we were able to re-login the user(creating a new profile) and setup everything.

There has to be some corruption within the profile that we couldn't see. Once we did this and several other things tried, alot of what you did also.... the new profile worked.

Hope that helps. If you need any other info, will do my best to help.

Tim
