Merge Printing Related Entries

I've recently noticed(!?) that after building a list and following: File-Print-Merge Documents-(choose document)-Merge Options, I have the option of merge printing to "Related Entries window entries." I check that option and the All Selected Entries."
The program moves to the Editor showing the Merge document buttons (Print, Skip, Print All, Cancel). When I print one or skip, the program appears to cancel the list I built and return me to the template(basically I can only print one of my original selected list.
What am I doing wrong?
