Hi

First off, I am very new to maximizer (and maxexchange) - although I have been an IT pro for several years.

I have Win 98 PC running max exchange and holding the address book database, what I need to do is migrate this installation on to a new server (Win2k Server) with as little disruption as possible (i.e. None!), I have managed to achieve some of this but am hitting problems brining across the distribution list for remote users (email distribution).

Any suggestions greatly appreciated - oh we are using Maximizer Enterprise 5.5 (btrieve).

Thanks

This is actually really easy. Load the OS and Maximizer exchange on the new server.
Make sure the new server is going to have the same IP address as the originall server, all the rest of the setup info is stored in the database.
When ready copy the Inbox, Outbox folder structure to the MaxExchange directory on the new server. (this brings over any wiating packets as well)
Down the old server up the new server.
Now when remotes go to connect they press Sync and read from the MXZREM.MAX file it tells them to go to this IP address (which is valid on the new server), use this password for authentication which is the same password) and look for this HEX folder which now exists on the new server. Voila no user knowledge of the change and a total of 10 min downtime.

Be warned default installation of Win 2k installs FTP part of IIS this will mess up your syncing so disable it.
