Moving Contacts - Default Entrty Error?

Hi,
I'm working with a small database of records (500) imported from Goldmine. Many times when I try to combine different contacts under the same company by dragging one company onto the other and selecting "move", I get the following message:
"Address book entries may not be combined with or moved to the default entry".

I've looked through the docs, the support site and help files but I've found nothing on this error.

Any ideas?
