Hi all. I'm getting the following message in my hotsync log: SYN1018: More than one email phone field ("johndoe@hotmail.com johndoe@hotmail.com") was found for the record with name "Doe, John", only the last email field was kept.
This is causing duplicate email addresses on my Palm. Any idea what is wrong?

From the MaxLink User Guide:

"Since Maximizer can synchronize only one email address with Palm or Handspring phone fields, only the last email address was preserved in the record. If you want to synchronize multiple email addresses for a record, use Palm or Handspring custom fields."

On the Palm, there are 5 places where you can enter either a phone number or email address for a contact. You can set it up so there are 4 phone numbers and 1 email address, 3 phone numbers and 2 email addresses, etc. With Max 7, there's room in the standard fields for 4 phone numbers and 1 email address.

My guess is that you have a contact on your Palm that has 2 email addresses specified. MaxLink is able to insert 1 of the 2 email addresses into Max, but it can't insert the second becuase it's trying to put in in a phone field.

Either use one of the custom fields on the Palm to store the second email address or get rid of it. That should get you around the problem.
Maybe I phrased my reponse poorly. Check your contacts on the Palm. You may have only 1 email address entered for each contact, but you might have inadvertently changed one of the 5 available items to email and that's throwing MaxLink off.

You might also want to look at your address book in Max to see if some alphanumeric text might have found its way into one of the 4 Max phone fields.

Something has got to be wonky somewhere, so start digging.
Well, I still haven't figures this out yet. I checked and have no address book entries in Max 7 with more than one email address entered. I've tried removing the second email address from the address book entry on the Palm, but what it ends up doing is creating another entry for that address in Max when I hotsync. Which is another issue - how do you change information in an address book entry on the Palm and get it to sync with Max rather than create a duplicate. Somewhere there must be a connection to these problems, but I just can't find it. Maxlink looks to be configured correctly from what I can see, but ...?
