Our company recently installed Maximizer 8 on several of its computers. All of the people who have new computers with Windows XP are having problems with the settings of the My Work Day. When we start up Maximizer, it automatically goes to 'My Workday'. We don't want it to do this, but to go directly to the Address Book layout we have set up. We have gone into the 'settings' on 'My Workday' and made sure the box saying 'when starting, go directly to my workday' is unchecked. We click on apply and then click ok. But when we open up settings again, that box is checked again. We have tried everything, including 'save settings on exit' etc. etc. but we still have the My Workday coming up when starting Maximizer. Please help!

We couldn't find anything called 'Power User' Priveledges, but we set it so that they have full access and the problem still continued. I'm not sure how access rights would matter to setting the 'workday' to open at startup. When the box is checked off in settings and then 'apply' is clicked and then the settings box shut down, you open settings again and the box is checked again. Seems like a bug with Maximizer. Very annoying.
XP provides the capability to prevent users from changing certain system settings including registry entries and so on. Consequently, if you don't have a user set as a "Power User" then Maximizer (or any program for that matter) will be prevented from settings being saved outside the current session.

Check your user's settings under XP - not Maximizer!

Okay, now I understand. I went into useraccounts, made myself at 'power user' status, logged off, logged back on and the problem still persists. In fact, now I can't even get into useraccounts to change anything because it automatically goes to 'administrator'. I must have been higher than 'power user' before already. anyway, bottom line is the problem with maximizer is still there and I can't change the settings to not open at 'my workday' on startup. Any other suggestions?
Chris, the same thing is happening to me. It just started. I even reinstalled Max8 and it's doing the same thing. And I can't get my key fields to come back on. I've set them up in the Administrator Program but just like the My Workday issue, Max ignores my settings the next time I boot back up. Since I'm the administrator for my system there should be no XP "user" issues.
I have the cause and the solution.
Do you use Peachtree Accounting and perhaps upgraded to the newest version? Peachtree uses an older version of the Database Engine. Backup your data, then comletely uninstall Maximizer by following the knowledgebase article on how to uninstall Maximizer, uninstall the Pervasive database, then re-install. Your problems will be solved and you can continue to use Peachtree.
