OpenOffice.org and Maximizer

I am trying to wean myself from MS Office and Corel Word Perfect. Several people have told me to start using OpenOffice.org.
I downloaded the program and when I try to import my word templates they do not work as a mail merge and the macros are not compatable with MS word macros.
Can someone advise me how to modify the templates so I can integrate OpenOffice with Maximizer 7?

Hi, Chuck.

Maximizer is not designed to work with OpenOffice so you probably won't get much help here. You could try asking about DDE/macro compatibility in an OpenOffice forum.

If OpenOffice compatibility is important to you, be sure to send a note to suggestions@maximizer.com telling them so.

If anyone is using Maximizer and wants to import the word templates to OO, after hours of trying to get it to work I finaly was successful.
You can import the templates using the AutoPilot feature. Once they are imported go back to Maximizer and go to Edit and Copy Link. Copy the link you want and then go back to the OO template and paste special. It will ask if you want to paste the DDE link. Say OK and you are in business.
