I am currently merging all our Address Books into a single address book, and the Transfer function seems the most appropriate tool to do this with Maximizer 7.0. However, although all entries, notes, appointments etc are transferred, the Opportunities are never transferred. I have tried this several times, but cannot get this to work. Any suggestions?

Maybe you need to upgrade from v7.0. According to the Maximizer 9 User's Guide (p. 242):

|By default, when you transfer Companies or Individuals, the following
|are included: all associated Contacts, user-defined fields, notes,
|files, appointments, Hotlist tasks, orders, and opportunities.

.
Yes that would be an option, but the Help file in Maximizer 7 states:

"Exchanging Address Book Data

You can use Maximizer to copy data from one Address Book to another. Transfer is ideal for merging together Address Books and sharing entries and setups"

and also in another section:

"If you need data from another Address Book—Address Book entries or opportunities, for example—use Maximizer's transfer feature."

So this would lead me to believe it is possible in Max 7, tohwerise the transfer function is pretty much redundant if you cannot take across Opportunities.
Yes you are quite right. There is no mention of Opportunities within the transfer log. But I would have thought this would be such a huge omission by Maximizer, that it just could not be true, particular when the help file hints that it is possible. Any possible workarounds to merge address books and keep the Opportunities intact, or is upgrade the most likely route? [incidentally I trialled Max 9, and no-one was able to tell me how to import my Max 7 data into Max 9 - the normal methods were unsuccessful]
If the transfer summary doesn't mention the type of entry then I'm afraid that Gord is correct and it won't get transferred.

Now opening the data in Maximizer 9 should be very simple. Take copy of your database first (once the data is upgrade to the v9 structure it cannot be rolled back so you should definately have a backup copy before starting the trial).

Install Maximizer 9, we would recommend that when it asks you where to put the data you change the default path to something easier to remember like C:\MaxData.

When the program has installed go into C:\MaxData\AddrBks and create a folder with the name of your address book, then paste all the files from your Max7 machine into that folder. Delete the ~pvsw~.loc file (if it exists).

Start Maximizer, don't worry about logging into a database, you can just hit cancel and then cancel again when prompted to select a database.

Then click File>>New Address Book, give it a name and set the file location to be the same as the location you just copied your files to (C:\MaxData\AddrBks\[Database Name]) & click ok.

Maximizer now say something along the lines of "Maximizer files have been found in this folder, to use these files click yes, if you want to create a new database click no and change the location."

Click Yes.

Then enter your MASTER password when prompted. At this point Maximizer will upgrade the database for you from v7 to v9.
