Pervasive Backup Agent - Do I need it?

Hi,

I am running Max Ent 8 Workgroup with Pervasive backend running on XP Prof. My backup product Dantz Retrospect 6.5 supports XP Volume Shadow System to allow taking snapshots of open files during a backup. Do I still need the PBA in this environment - I thought that XP VSS was supposed to provide the ability to backup files when they are open which in my simplistic reading of PBA does the same?
