port ranges

I am having a discussion with my IT department and they are having difficulty understand which port ranges max exchange will use for FTP transfer. I told them of the range described in the config doc that uses 10035 to 11315. Are these the only ports Max exchange will use? They claim to see requests from port ranges in 7000 range.

Can someone tell me how to set max exchange server to only use a specific range of ports?

Hi there Jaysker,

Ok as far as we are aware Max Exchange uses the port specified in the setup as it's primary connection port (by default 21, we usually change that to 1021 to avoid confilcts).

The 10035 - 11315 Range is used for actually transferring data. Again, as far as we are aware these are the only ports used.

You cannot setup Max Exchange to only use a specific range of ports as the ports is does use are hard coded into the system.

Are they sure it's Max Exchange making the request on the 7000 range ports? What is the name of the application making the connection?
