Hi all,
I'm trying to upgrade my CRM 11 to CRM 12. Installing Max. and opening the Escona tutorial works just fine.
Problem is migrating the CRM11 address books to the new system.

On the new system I make a new address book with the same name as the existing address book. Then I make a back up of the new address book (on the c drive in the sql server folder).

On the "old" system I make a back up of the existing address book in the original sql sever file.
this file I copy on an external disc drive and the a overwrite the .bak file on the new system.

In administrator I restore the back up, using MASTER and control, and for a few seconds is says restoring . . .
and than an error massage apears stating there was an error.

I would like to know if this is the wright way to migrate an address book and / or would exporting and importing through the sql studio manager be an alternative option?

Many thank in advance for any help or suggestions.

You appear to be following generally the right approach definitely go backup/restore and not export/import.

Copy the backup file off the external drive and onto the c: drive of the new computer before attempting to restore SQL does not always like working with external drives.

If this is not the problem it may be some other form of permission issue. If you enable MAAccess error login in the preferences in the Maximizer Administrator you may be able to get more information about the error.
