Problems upgrading 5.0 to 6.0

How do you upgrade 5.0 to 6.0? I tried to upgrade it on Windows ME but it kept crashing on me. I had no choice but to back up the database - even though it kept crashing. I reformated my hard-drive and switched to Windows 2000. I now have a blank 6.0 on my computer and am trying to load in the backed up database into it. However, I keep getting an error message that someone else is using the files. I am not networked with any other computer.

a brief comment..

Sounds like the Pervasive software may not be installed correctly or you have a rights problem.

There are also some special updates for Pervasive on Me that may be worth checking.
