On a peer to peer system with a server acting as a gateway (holds the database), is the \PVSW\Bin\~PVSW~.LOC file still needed on every workstation?
Max support once told me to delete all these files off the workstations when I was having gateway troubles. I didn't replace them but they're back in place. Can they cause problems if they're there but not needed?

You only need the ~PVSW~.LOC file in the shared database folder.

And it also needs to be ideally created by the Gateway (Licence holder) machine using the Gateway Locator in Start>Programs>Pervasive>Pervasive.SQL 2000i>Utilities

In the Target Directory section, click the navigation button to the right of the Target Directory field (the one with three dots) and browse to the directory that contains the database. Click Open.

Click Change.

Select Assign a Gateway and click the navigation button (the one with three dots).

Highlight the gateway computer and click OK.

Click OK.

Click Refresh.

The Gateway assigned to field now displays the name of the gateway computer.

Click Exit.

Also the newly created ~PVSW~.LOC file need to be 'Read Only' right click on it and select properties to check
