Secondary addresses propagating with company instead of contact

I have been trying to add home addresses for all of my contacts that belong to companies.

When I add an address, it propagates to all of the contacts within that company, as it should.

However, when I add an address to a contact (not a company), it seems to attach that address to the company and propagate it to all my contacts within than company. Any changes I make to that address through ANY of the contacts progates to all of the other contacts as well.

How can I add personal, individual addresses to each contact within a company and maintain these addresses as independent attributes attached to the contact, but not the company?

Are you 'adding' an address, or changing the current address in the contact record? If you're doing the latter, it is really changing the primary company address.

What you should be doing is:
1) open either company or contact record
2) click on 'address' button right of Address 2 field
3) click on 'add' button
4) name this new address & fill in info
5) click on Select button to assign this address to a particular contact

Thank you for your response. I was more referring to a situation, where you have:

1 company
4 contacts; each should be entered with a company address (for all the same) as well as a private address (each different)

I am looking for an appropriate solution to this problem.

Methuen - thank you for your reply. Would you have any elegant suggestions to our problem?
Running previously ACT6, we had the possibility to enter a company address as well as a home address for each contact.

We are currently running Maximizer Enterprise 8.

Our workaround is to create an address at the Company level for each Contact (ie John_Smith_home, Roberta_Jones_home, etc.). Then we Select the appropriate address for each Contact. Seems to work for us, although we typically have less than 15 Contacts per Company, and don't do this for all our Contacts.

If I understand the poster correctly, he wants to have 2 addresses (or more) for an account & be able to do mailings automatically to both of those addresses.

Of course, I should correct my earlier comment...it is possible to create unlimited addresses per contact, but only one of them can be active at a time.
