The following error is occurring when I attempt to startup Maximizer 5.0, which I have been using for about a year, without problem. I have tried re-installing Maximizer but still get the same message at startup. I even tried re-installing Windows 98, hoping that might restore a corrupt DLL file somewhere on the system. All to no avail.

I’d appreciate any help you might be able to offer.

Regards,

J. Willins

Hi,

This is a common problem I'm afraid but usually easily fixed.

You'll need to use the registry editor. If you not familiar with this be careful as you can do alot of damage if you delete the wrong thing!

do START / Run enter Regedit click open/ok

click on the + next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
click on the + next to Software
click on the + next to Maximizer Technologies
click on the + next to Maximizer

click on each folder in turn that starts with 'Toolbar' or 'Toolbars' and press the DELete key. confirm delete. Keep going until there are no more references to Toolbars at the start of the folders named in the Maximizer folder.

Close regedit restart Maximizer

Maximizer seems to save impossible positions for the toolbars from time to time. This I believe causes the crash.
