Stuck on Install of Maximizer

hi

first time using Maximizer. I have a separate SQL Server that I'd like max installed on. so what I've done is install max(custom) without installing SQL database function. now installing it again..it comes up asking for SQL server this time.. perfect I think. I put in the details-> click next..nothing . just stuck on the same screen. see attachment.
I checked in ODBC - tested connection with SA password successfully. tried windows authentication - worked fine. tested telnet - worked fine!!

any ideas??
