Several things that would make our lives a lot easier - and a shame that they arent in v7

1. In email window, we use Exchange 2000 / Outlook, and make significant use of the "Follow up flag" and "Preview pane" features. We need to see the follow up flag field - why isnt it possible to customise the type and position of the columns in email client.

2. We regularly send email from other email addresses - for example we may send emails using outlook and send them from a generic email address - e.g. "Sales" or "Support". In outlook you have a field "From" which would be good to have in your email client.

3. The ability to hide / customise standard toolbars. For example if the standard toolbar is on, there is an option to write letter. However this fires up your standard wordprocessor - we use Word. If we could hide certain buttons on standard toolbars this would be good.

4. User preferences. If you want to make a global change - for example tick on Logging for phone calls, currently you have to select each user in turn and tick the option on for each. Why not have an "apply this to all users" type button - OR be able to tick a box, then select certain users to apply it to from a list.. Managing user preferences takes ages..

5. Favourite lists are not dynamic. Nightmare and one of our biggest problems. If you create a favourite list, with a certain field match - say "Partner status = Yes". If then you change one of the companies partner status from yes to NO, the Favourite list when you use it still has this company in it even though the filed has changed. This is very poor and surely needs fixing immediately. At the very least you should have a tick box which says "Rematch with the chosen field whenever this list is retrieved".

Hi Jason,

The suggestions you have made are all pretty good, I like the idea of being able to see the follow flags aswell, I make extensive use of those.

The standard toolbars are very unlikely to become customisable, it would entail a substantial amount of work for a result which would dramatically enhance the product, you could however create toolbars which gave all of the functionality of the standard bars minus various features, if you use the Macro functions (keystrokes only please!) then this should be pretty successful.

The User setup interface is being improved all of the time so these changes may happen for setting up users, ceratinly the groups functions make setting them up less painful than it used to be smile

Favorite lists are not dynamic, they are a means of storing a fixed list of clients / contacts, e.g. last years Xmas card list etc. If you require dynamic lists then I suggest you should write the appropriate searches into the search catalogue for future reference. To make them easier to use perhaps run them from a Macro on the toolbars?
