Hello there,
First congrats to whom it may concern for this site, which as good as Maximizer support is BAD...
I run Maximizer on a Dell Poweredge with all the trimmings so that is fine and everything is stable so far. I have had no problems importing data using simple methods (tabdel.txt) and so far everything is great.
What I find is the best feature in Maximizer is the Web Form sytem (not the form designer, but the HTML form output from use defined fields). Unfortunately, tough I am using winqcgi.exe, which is reputed to work, and I get an error message as described in this post <https://maxtalk.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/132605203/m/5371051751>. This is infuriating because my whole idea is to make use of this tool intensively, but IT DONT WORK!!!!
I am also implementing both Quickbooks which up to a couple of days ago worked fine for creating users, quotes, invoices, etc., and ecbuilder (Pro 6.1) and though the e-commerce fucntionalities are pretty basic (euphemism for abysmaly simple). Yet, it does output an entire catalog from a properly formated .txt file, and outputs decent HTML. What is nice about it is that it is very standard, so it is very easy after, using dreamweaver or some other powerful batch search/replace editor to rip out all the Cosmetic HTML and replace it with your own, which I have tried and it works really well. Only thing is you have to do that every time you publish so it only works if your catalogue is pretty static.
Now of course, I could use another slightly more expensive and more functional ecommerce solution but the whole point is to integrate it with maximizer so we can track and manage the entire sales cycle. What is out there in terms of complete CRM is just too expensive for us.
Now, we looked into the option of using INTERNET SECURE as a payement gateway, but they are outrageous in their demands (8% floating reserve fund for 6 months AND personal liability to their agreement!!!!) so I am shopping for others now. I sort of assume that the integration of the gateway is ok otherwise these companies would not be on the maximizer site, right? Anyway, before I sign an agreement with a payment gateway, I would work in a clause that their services have to be demonstrated to work with ecbuilder else you don't pay.
Now that I have begun importing MTI files in Maximizer though, received from ecbuilder, I have not been able to connect to quickbooks to create invoices. for the new customers received form the web. They import just fine, with their order and all the info (everytime you order, the order gets checked against the entire atabase, so if your database is big (mine is 1400 entries), then it takes a while), and I can create the new users based on the MTI information in Qui8ckbooks, I can associate a selected user to the quickbooks user, but I can't create any invoices, quotes or Purchase order, which is very anoying... I keep getting a message to the effect that I need to select a linked address book entry, which I did, but somehow it does not work except for actually associating MAximizer and Quickbooks users. I have found out that there is little documentation around on quickbooks integration, and I am affraid that Maximizer will jump on the third party excuse not to support this issue. I might try a complete re-install and recreation of the database, but bugs like this do not bode well for massive and intensive utilization.
I have yet to try the maximizer support (being somewhat busy, it took me a while to get around to it and my 30 day free support has expired, so being forced to pay for suppor t(at least I don't have to listen to muzak at long distance charges) and I intend to list all the bugs and irritants before I cash that chip in.
On paper, Maximizer looks like an awesome investment, but there are a lot of glitches and limitations that makes me think that their account management software got too powerful, and even though you could technically use it, out of the box, as a nearly complete CRM solution, I suspect that they keep some features abysmal (such as the web form creation interface) so you are enticed into upgrading to their enterprise edition. But before I spend THAT kind of money, I want to see them perform as stated on their 1K$ software first...
