We are experiencing one particular problem that does not appear to have a resolution and was wandering if anyone had come across it, and if so if there was a resolution.

The problem is that we have a user with Maximizer Enterprise 7.5 LAN version and also using Maxexchange. They have network users and remote
users. They use Microsoft Word as their editor and embed documents to the documents tab in MAximizer.

When they synchronise using Maxexchange, all is fine until they try to open a Word document on the remote machine. The remote users get 'maxwin'
errors and are unable to open the documents.

1. The strange thing is that the network users are able to open the documents without any problem.
2. Also the remote users are able to open SOME synchronised embedded Microsoft Word documents.
3. They have NO problems embedding MAximizer Word processor documents and opening these on the remotes.

The operating system and the Microsoft Office version would be the same configuration as the network users.

With regard to service packs, they have Maxexchange SR1 and Maximizer hotfixes 5 and 6.

We tried various things but none work:
1. Backup and restore of the files on the remote laptop - thinking the document file may be corrupt.
2. Sent a refresh to the laptop - still unable to open the documents
3. Disabled Norton Antivirus script blocking and then also removed it completely.
4. Installed the latest OLE drivers.

Does anyone know of a resolution?

thanks.

There are two ways to insert a document into Maximizer Embeding and Linking. Embeding creates a copy of the document and puts it in the database. Using this method there are now two copies of the database, the original file and the copy in the database, this copy in the database WILL synchronize to your remote users and they will be able to open it if they have the appropriate application on their machine and there are no Windows or Office rights preventing them from opening it, and you have not taken their user rights away from documents.

If you link it only a shortcut to the original document is created and the remote users will NOT be able to open that document.
