We are running MAX 7.5 on XP machines. Every time we enter phone numbers its puts them in American format is there anyway to stop this and if possible to a global change to the numbers that are already in the database

Yes. Look at the "To change phone number formatting" section at the bottom of this document:

Not from within Maximizer. Personally, I would try using a Perl script that accesses the data via ODBC, but other solutions would work as well.

I just noticed a checkbox called "TAPI format Address Book phone numbers" in the Administrator module under
File > Preferences > System Options
If that is selected you could try un-checking it and see if that makes a difference.
