My organization uses the Customer Service to track customer cases (think legal not tech support). Employees need to be able to enter incremental time against those cases. The customer service modules supports only a single billing amount and that field does not appear to be tied, in any way, to the accounting link module. Some thoughts I've had...
1. Create a Notes category called 'Billable'. Employees will create a 'billable' note describing the activity and amount of time spent. Someone needs to search manually for billable entries regularly and enter them into a quickbooks (where all invoicing is done from) invoice by hand.
2. Create an invoice in Accounting and add 'products' that represent our various services. This option would minimize back-end handling but has the disadvantages of being slow (approx 7 clicks to enter a simple note and time) and expensive as it would require that all employees have an accounting link license. There's a logistical danger in giving employees access to accounting link as well.
Can anyone think of an alternative that I haven't yet considered. Basic time entry against a case/client has to have been dealt with by now. I can't find anything in the forum archive, though.
