I am switching machines (old is Windows XP, new is Windows 7) and need to transfer my Maximizer 10 (Entrepreneur Edition) database to my new PC.

So far I have installed Maximizer 10 along with the SQL Server onto the new machine. No problem. I've created an address book under the MASTER user. Still no problem.

However I believed the next step was to log onto my database in my old machine, perform 'back up database' to my company's internal server, then log onto the server from my new machine and perform 'restore address book' from this destination.

When I do this, I get a message saying 'address book successfully restored', but no contact data appears. Help?

It sounds like you've approached this the right way. You should be sure that if you are installing Maximizer 10 on Windows 7 you have the latest release of Maximizer 10 SR2 which is required for Windows 7 support.

Its a little hard to tell for sure from your description but I think that you need to move the bak file off your company server and onto the local c:\ drive before you attempt to restore it. SQL often does not like restoring from network drives and/or compressed drives.
davec174 - did you ever get this figured out?

I'm having the exact same problem right now. With Maximizer 12 Entrepreneur I did a backup of my database on my XP machine, then copied the .BAK file to an external drive and pasted it into the C: drive of my new Windows 7 machine.

In the new machine I open Max12, I create a "new" database with the same name as I used on my old system, close it out, log back in using Administrator mode and attempt to Restore the .BAK file into the "new" database.

A dialog box pops up quickly and vanishes saying "Restore in Progress. Please wait...". Then on top of that another dialog box pops up saying the database has been restored.

However when I close everything out then go back to open the "new" database NONE of the restored records are in there.

If you found a solution, I'd really like to hear what you have to say.

Thanks!
