Hello all. I have a comnputer where I am currently running Maximizer 8. I am upgrading my Maximizer to 11 and also upgrading my computer. What's the best way to do this? I was thinking of installing 11 on the old machine with 8, doing the data upgrade, backup the database, transfer to the new machine, restore the database. Does this sound right?

Thanks everyone.

Yes this is the approach you would need to take. Depending on the condition of your old XP laptop you would need to install Maximizer 11 on it to upgrade the data and create the version 11 backup. This will only be possible if it is fully up to date (Windows update) and if the computer is very old may make it significantly slower, due largely to the installation of Microsoft SQL express.
Hawkes, Cathy Galivan, or Arina - were you all successful in upgrading and moving to a new computer using the backup/restore function?

I've recently upgraded from Maximizer 7 to Maximizer 12 Entrepreneur on my "old" XP machine. After that I made a backup of the Maximizer 12 database, then copied the .BAK file to an external drive and pasted it into the C: drive of my new Windows 7 machine.

In the new machine I open Max12, I create a "new" database with the same name as I used on my old system, close it out, log back in using Administrator mode and attempt to Restore the .BAK file into the "new" database on the new Windows 7 machine.

A dialog box pops up quickly and vanishes saying "Restore in Progress. Please wait...". Then on top of that another dialog box pops up saying the database has been restored.

However when I close everything out then go back to open the "new" database NONE of the restored records are in there.

I'd really like to know if you've had success, as I've found one other post in this forum that had the exact same problem as me.

Thanks!
