I think I am going mad. I have an old XP machine with Maximizer 9. I want to take my database from this machine and load it into my new machine with Max 10 and Vista.

Through the Administrator in Max 10 it asks me to load the Pervasive database engine (from my Max 9 CD) onto my Vista machine. I have then uploaded the Pervasive Vista upgrade. Everything appears to be cool.

Again through Administrator I click onto Upgrade Maximizer Address Book... and point it to my Maximizer files (on a USB key).

An error message comes up with 'Bad Database! Maximizer will be closed now' and Administrator closes down.

Can anyone please help as it's making me go crazy with worry that I've lost my data.

Thanks,

First things first I would suggest you copy the files off the USB key and onto the computers hard drive somewhere (create a MaxData folder in C:\ or something like that). Then make sure you remove the ~PVSW~.loc file if it is present and double check to make sure the files are not read only.

Once you've done that try the upgrade again.

If you still get errors with the upgrade then I think you should contact your Maximizer Business Partner as you are likely to need their assistance to look at the database in more depth.
