Using a Server

I have just purchased a laptop computer for work. I have 2 licenses for Max 9 and would like to use 1 on this laptop and the other one on my wifes computer. I was using a desktop both as my server and for my license of maximizer.

i would like to turn my desktop into a server only and put my installation of Max 9 on this laptop. I only want the server to be where the data is stored and not to have an installation of the GUI desktop itself thereby allowing me to go with just the 2 licenses.

Can this be done???
