I am running Maximizer Enterprise 7 SR2 (Pervasive workgroup scenario) on Win NT 4.0 SP6 with 512 MB

I would like some help with using the Web Form wizard ... I have successfully walked through the wizard, altered the HTML file to show what I want, copied the files to the web server, set the permissions on the directory to execute ... but no successs. The form pulls up appropriately in a web browser, allows you to fill in the fields and accepts the input when the submit button is pressed, but then it returns this message ...

"There was a problem sending the inquiry.
The email server may not be responding or the email address may be incorrect. Please try again later."

Not being a web guru ...
1)What does that mean exactly?
2)What does WINQCGI.EXE do exactly?
3)What exactly is e-mailed?
4)When the e-mail is received, how is the information loaded back into Maximizer?

I cannot seem to find much documentation on exactly what is happening here.

Maybe my web server is the problem ... it is a WIN98 machine running Personal Web Server (PWS) 4.0 ...

If you want to see what I've done so far ... look here ... http:// 66.134.114.253/myform.htm
If anybody has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Without knowing more about Personal Web Server i couldn't possibly comment on wether it is the culprit yet!

It could possibly be, as i believe it does not have the functionality or reliability of an NT or UNIX Web Server.

I am curious however, the SMTP mail server you have entered into the HTML of that page, does it (or the ISP that hosts it) allow you to use it as a relay? or is it your own SMTP mail server (in which case is it configured correctly)

With a few minor tweeks to the HTML the NT webform works fine on an NT box, as long as you can relay emails.

Thanks for the info ...

The machine in question does not have a SMTP server installed on it ... but is trying to use the ISP SMTP server.

I have no knowledge of whether the ISP SMTP server is set to relay ... Is the Maximizer (WINQCGI.EXE) not acting just like an e-mail client and generating a message? I would assume that as long as you were logged on to your ISP service and sent the mail to the SMTP server then it would be processed just like a regular e-mail coming from Outlook or whatever.

Any more clarity you can add to the situation would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks!
If it were acting like an email client then i would have thought a 'MAILTO' link would have been sufficent, not an SMTP mail server address, which would more than likley need Relay.

As you say that your ISP hosts your Mail Server i am assuming that you have a POP3 account for recieving mail.

POP servers allow you to retrieve mail but most servers don't allow you to send mail. You can use SMTP to send mail from your local machine to your ISP but as default not to recieve SMTP mail.

The most common ISP email setups are 'Outgoing SMTP' and 'Incoming POP3'

You will need to ask your ISP if they can forward/Relay SMTP mail to you if it is not possible to relay POP mail to you. Then you will have to configure your account to recieve SMTP mail.

This could be the problem, But i'm more inclind to blame relay.
